  • I made a balloon simular to this about 6 months ago. Tryed about 20 times to fly it and even on the calmest summer days the slightest bit of wind seems to pull it down to the ground it never flys strait up like yours in this video and has never gone more than 15 feet. I have used the thinest bags i can find for less weight. How do you fly yours like this ( strait up in the sky) mine wont do that?

  • I used a extra thin Polyethylene foil. The balloon has a volume around 65 m³ and a weight of less than 500g. I think its better to fly it in cold air, so the difference of the temerature between inside and outside air is bigger...

  • yes, but it took just around 5 hours to build it....

  • How high could that balloon go, if it wasn't tethered?

  • Beautiful idea! I would like to know which product you have glued the pieces of the balloon. can lift that weight? Thanks.

  • @danleggymail Were you trying to fly it on a hot day? Someone said in an email that solars fly better on cool sunny days. More temp differential & the air starts out more dense.

  • where did you get the balloon from ive never launched a model that way befor
