@zach3493 -- True that a ton of development has taken place but Sanibel is still about the least "tacky" place in Florida. E.g., there are no fast food restaurants and junky stores selling cheap t-shirts and other junky paraphernalia on the island. And the local folks have worked hard to preserve natural habitats for the wild life. I do regret that I didn't find Sanibel as early as you when it still pretty much "undiscovered." Still, there remains a ton of beauty to be enjoyed.
i miss the day when I use to go and there was nothing but a few houses and trees. its SO touristy now.
