Built by Bontems of Paris, this Automaton produces a realistic bird song. Built in the mid to late 1800's.
Height is 19.5" and birds are full size.

  • This is a Swiss bird automaton from circa 1965, I own an identical one, which my aunt purcased ( in 1965 from a london store). cheap gilt plate and tacky cage, 100% not antique.

  • @psari Mechanical singing birds have been around sense 400BC in fact the first robot created was a Mechanical singing bird (little fact for ya), and this could have been restored in regards to the foliage as if it was fake it was probably silk and that does deteriorate over time unless controlled but I wouldn't put it past the french to have produced something this extravagant even a hundred years ago.
