This is my baby girl Roxy, my pride and joy, whom I adopted from BARC shelter when she was a very tiny 4 months old baby known as "Jello". She's now 1 year old and has gotten quite good at dealing with the condition she was born with, Cerebellar Hypoplasia. She doesn't let it stop her at all though and just keeps on trying until she gets it done in her own way. At the end of this video she does a somersault which she does whenever she gets too excited.

  • @psychochemicalnova One thing I learned living with these cats is that what you lack in life shouldn't determine what your life is worth. Sure these guys can't walk 3 inches, but there's so much more they CAN do. They enjoy eating, playing with each other, spending time with my husband and I, traveling with us on vacations, and overall enjoying life despite their physical limitations. Should I put them down just because they can't do this one thing despite everything else they can do?

  • Question: i've noticed cats and kittens with CH seem to purr a lot, why is this???does it make them comfortable? i know cats will purr if happy, or even if in pain, or discomfort to make themselves calm, i know CH cats are not in pain, but maybe the constant purring puts them at ease?? do u have an answer about this??

  • @ducrozet74 That's a very interesting thought indeed. I don't have an answer to that but it got me thinking. I think my 3 girls are pretty spread out in the spectrum, from constantly purring to only semi affectionate, but what you're suggesting might have some merit. I think I'll ask the question to other CH owners and see what their thoughts are.

  • i posted this on my blog and FB and educated people about cats with CH, many people got upset, and i had to keep telling them, that they are not in pain, that they are born this way and dont know any other world, how strong they are etc etc just wanted to educate people, i myself have always had cats, but none with CH, i do have 2 cats with feline herpes now (mango 4 was disease free) my second cat Meep was born with herpes and infected mango. anyway its wonderful how u take care of these girls

  • @ducrozet74 Thank you for sharing the video and educating the public. I know it can be difficult to understand for the general public, but I wish people can meet my girls in person and see just how wonderful they are. But hopefully with more people like you CH cats will become more accepted.

  • @iamtheomega They don't need drugs to "fix" them, all they need is for someone to be compassionate, understand their limitations, accept them for the wonderful animals they are, and make necessary adjustments in their lives to accommodate them.

  • this cat need only yours love and care, forever your friend(=

  • @psychochemicalnova Yes, you are indeed advocating that CH cats be murdered simply because they were born with a disability. "Maybe shouldnt have had to deal with it" ring a bell? You may have pity on the cats and would prefer to murder them....so I suggest you go find one of those handicapped body builders or war veterans and tell them the same about their handicap. See what happens.

  • @psychochemicalnova on another note, you wouldn't kill a human who couldn't walk well, or who was disabled in any way, so why are cats any different? If humans can find a way to enjoy life with its difficulties, so can animals.

  • @psychochemicalnova It is pretty funny, actually.

My cat with CH doesn't cry out in frustration, and she's never in pain. Once you realize that they're perfectly happy and have adapted properly to their lifestyle, it should make you HAPPY that they're completely healthy and can live with the disorder. That's like saying it's sad to see some person in a wheelchair successfully go up a ramp without a problem.

  • @babyblue003 I didn't say her life is worthless. When did i say this? Because I feel compassion and sadness for these cats at whom people laugh and deem "cute" because they fall over and cry out in frustration I am a maniac who doesn't value life at all? I'm not asking you to kill your cat who is alive and in a loving home, I'm saying understand that it's sad, and that it isnt "cute" or funny. It's a struggle for a creature that can't understand why, and maybe shouldnt have had to deal with it.

  • See, now I really, really want a cat with CH, because they're SO FUCKING CUTE!

  • I have a CH kitty as well. Crawford is super affectionate. He purrs a lot as well, but definitely a reaction from being loved so much...not a reaction to being in pain. He's a happy guy!

  • Hi,

I have a rabbit who exhibits the exact same signs as your kitty. I'm trying to support him all I can while trying to get a diagnosis, but my vet says a diagnosis for something like this is not really possible. I'm glad Roxy seems to have adjusted to her situation.
