Wayne State University students talk about living in the area around the campus and what Detroit's Midtown neighborhood has to offer. Read more about it at www.modeldmedia.com
@directorcj75 Eh well I only go to college in Detroit. The developing areas like Midtown, Downtown, and Corktown are fun - but the murder rate, high insurance, blight and the impending EFM coming into the city would keep me away from actually living in Detroit.
@mmichal Thanks for your answer. Appreciate it. Is it worth living in Detroit these days, or are the social problems just too great? Merry Christmas to you. Cheers.
@directorcj75 to answer your question; Midtown's kind of like a gentrifying area. There's more affulent people moving in (not just white people though most of the new people are white) and more development going on there. It's still got problems much like the rest of Detroit.
I would say this video (like most model d vids) tend to be looking through rose-colored glasses.
This seemed to be a 'white's only' video. Do any African Americans live in MId Town or is this video not for real? Just wondering. I was in Detroit over 30 years ago. It was a slum then. What's it really like now?
What I find funny is that you either get low-rent low quality and get harassed by roaches and bums - -or- - you get high rent medium quality and get harassed by hipsters AND bums! Your pick, ace. Build some normal freaking housing for students here and stop trying to milk them for their last dime so they can buy your frappawappachupa latte.
what I find funny is all the suburbanites who comment just to be negative. Talking about crackheads all the time when the crackheads who are the customers of the drug dealers live in the BURBS! lmao. Most black youth, really from the 40 age group down, are not into heavy drugs. When you live on a street with an active heroin or crack house you notice who the "custos" are and trust they aren't detroiters lol
At 2:00 I like it :P

You have to ask yourself where the source of all this hostility toward Detroit lies. In my mind, it has mostly to do with race.
