Wise Words: Ron Paul & Benjamin Franklin

While I also support Ron Paul, I doubt he'd want to be associated with Lincoln. "Honest Abe's" war to bully the South out of secession cost American lives and a tremendous amount of money in the Reconstruction in the wake of the brutal total war tactics we inflicted on our own countrymen. It was also an early example of the erosion of the system of checks and balances and the President overstepping the role given him in the Constitution. If he wanted an unconstitutional way to free slaves...

...he could have simply bought them all from the slaveholders with tax money and promptly freed them... and it would have cost nary a drop of blood. While I'll give Abe that he was a smart guy, he doesn't really live up to the ethics that American history books ascribe him. Add to that the evidence that points to "the great Emancipator" being quite racist in his letters and pre-Gettysburg speeches.

Ron Paul's peaceful and rational discourse is more comparable to Franklin or Jefferson. :)
