@contemporarymonk Couple of questions, if the tank is half or full will the aircraft float(at least for a while)?
Also they do recover to ensure protection of their tecnology or just because they can reutilize some expensive air-craft parts?

The aircraft was recovered from the water, not sure if it went back into service. But there are many examples of the arresting cable snaping, and the pilots being forced to eject.
