February 25, 1992, Gene Kiniski's final appearance in a wrestling ring took place at a TV taping in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada for the independent West Four Wrestling Alliance (WFWA) promotion. Kiniski would wrestle five times that night, this was the fifth and final match, a battle royal for the vacant WFWA Canadian Heavyweight Championship, other combatants include Chris Jericho, "Bulldog" Bob Brown, "Champagne" Gerry Morrow, and The Natural (the future Jackel and Cyrus). Gene Kiniski was the NWA World's Heavyweight Champion on December 23, 1967.

When you look at all the aging and up and coming names in the WFWA it was clear that this was Winnipeg's answer to Smoky Mountain Wrestling.
