LOL at my lips in this thumbnail! :)

This is an easy and rather inexpensive deodorant to make.

5 - 9 tablespoons of coconut oil (depends on your creaminess factor!)
1/4 cup of arrow root or corn starch (arrow root preferred)
1/4 of baking soda
Optional - one or two drops of tea tree and any other essential oil that you like the smell of.

Coconut oil - Natural antimicrobial, antifungal and antibacterial. Good to eat too.

Arrow root is used as a thickener in Asian Sauces. It gives that great glassy appearance. It is used as a binder in our case. You can use corn starch but it may contain talc. We don't like talc.

Baking soda is used as a deodorizer

Tea Tree Oil - natural antifungal, antibacterial and antimicrobial. Can cause skin rashes if you have sensitive skin. I would try the mix without essential oils first. They are very potent. If you are pregnant, there are some oils that you should not handle. Please look into that.

This is NOT an anit-perspirant. If you sweat alot then this may leave an oily residue on your shirt that may not come out. I do not sweat alot so I do not have this problem.

Do not rub this really hard into the pits. Baking soda is a natural scouring powder and is very abbraisive. That is why I do not put it in my hair. If it can take scuffs off my tile then I do not want it anywhere near my hair!

  • @Januaryo12 Yay! I was thinking that this could probably work for smelly feet to. My hubby does not have smelly feet so I have no one to try it on. I have yet to oil stain a shirt by using this. This one is a keeper! Thank you for stopping by!

  • I am trying to find a way to make homemade deodorants antiperspirant, until then I have to use my Dove.

  • So far my formula works well for me with smell but still working on sweat. The deodorant lasts morning to evening then its about time to reapply because sometime in the middle of the night it stops. I use tea tree oil to plus peppermint and sage.

  • I tried this before in the summer and it melted BIG MESS! So now i use shea butter with baking soda and cornstarch. Yes i know about the talc and will be using arrowroot the next go round. I also may add some coconut oil with the shea/coco butter next time since u mentioned that it keeps down the smell.

  • Great, thanks for sharing, I needed to hear this. I normally just use baking soda, I will give this a try. Again, thanks 4 sharing
