Similarly so with Scientology. They have had people infiltrate the IRS to get a tax free status. They have figured out a way to get lawyers to become members and work pro bono to build their resume. They really worked faster in a shorter amount of time than the Catholic Church. So far, the Catholic Church is in debt and many priests are admitted atheists in Europe. It'll probably survive as a nostalgia; similar to the Royal Family in the UK.

I do and it is damaging their reputation but I fear that this wont be enough. The Catholic Church isn't branded the cult that it is. It's still highly thought of by many and still has way too much control over things outside of the church.
