Jim Charlton of Chicago, Illinois speaks about Ed Roberts' example and how he's shown modern advocates the way forward.

Jim has worked at Access Living as Director of Programs, Executive Vice President and Acting President since 1985. Mr. Charlton was also Mayor Harold Washington's first appointment to the Chicago Transit Authority's Board of Directors. Jim has lectured on independent living and disability rights; he wrote the book 'Nothing About Us Without Us'. He has taught Disability Studies at the University of Illinois since 2000.
