Hillary '1984'

This campaign spot for Obama Barack is a parody of the 1984 Apple Computer Super Bowl spot. Hillary Clinton has been substituted for IBM as the mind numbing voice of conformity. In the original spot, the Macintosh was introduced as 'the computer for the rest of us.' Presumably, in this spot, Barack Obama, 'is the candidate for the rest of us.' (though a person would have to be older or check the original spot to make this connection).

This post is an endorsement of the spot which is the most clever of the campaign season. This is not an endorsement of any candidate.

Big Brother in 1984 was not Socialist, but a Totalitarian, regime. Advocacy of the people owning the products of production is not Totalitarian. Democrats are not reducible to Socialists because many of their policies are conservative.

Big Brother controls the people through false threats against its own territory. This may be found in the Bush administration's continuing dishonesty regarding threats to domestic security. Bush's spending is the most egregious form of big Govt. in the US to date

It is when the government uses violence, or the threat thereof, to take from another person what isn't theirs (or anyone's) to take. All collective action itself is inherently totalitarian, that is why the constitutional republic came about, because democracy was just as dangerous to the liberty of individuals as a monarchy without proper restrictions and limitations on the collective aciton.
