No they wasn't. The creator of the dog wanted a hunting dog. They are USED as fighting dogs. Dogos are not dog-aggressive like a pitbull terrier would be. If it was dog-aggressive, it wouldn't be able to hunt in packs which was the original intention of the breed.

The whole point in this exercise is to keep the dogs sense to hunting wild bore so the dong will be stimulated the next time he is taken hunting or the next time he does such enrichment exercises with the dog or this could also be for sale purposes so the buyer would know the dogs that are being bred hunt bore and have the sent tracking and drive to do so

a maioria aqui nem sabe o que é um dogo nem que tipos de dogo argentino existem. Caçar ou não caçar tem a ver com o facto de ser educado ou não mas o dogo ja de si foi criado com ese instinto. Para quem não sabe o dogo é o melhor cão de luta de todos mas os ignorantes falão do pit que leva a fama e não o proveito. Apesar de eu pensar que luta de cães é BURRIÇE.

Actually, my buddy breeds this dog out of WA. He has been to Argentina twice. He has gone on a hunt and has witnessed how dog aggressive the Dogos can be. THey spent more time fightin amongst themselves than hunting. Nonetheless I am getting a KANGALxDOG this September from him. Awesome mix. LOW PREY DRIVE and LOW DOG AGGRESSIVENESS but highly protective and intelligent as well as athletic. Check out my friends site.

@HammandClov: I agree with you, but they ARE dog aggressive, if not properly socialized, moreover if they don't know the dog from puppy it gets even harder, dogo breeders have stated these facts, they are not words of mine. A wonderful companion but with lots of attention and cares needed from day 1! Especially if you want the dog as a (family) pet and not a hunter! =))
