This is a great song & a lovely recording of it. This may upset a lot of people but what a waste of a life. I am English with a love of Ireland & the Irish people & particularly the music. I don,t see the point of killing yourself, be it Irelands troubles or the cause of Muslims who blow themselves to pieces in the light of religion. Sorry if I have upset anybody that has lost a loved one in the troubles.

@Makolki Yes they are, and Paidraig Mor who sings with them sometimes is fantastic too, but I can't stop playing this beautiful song, and play it on a daily basis, as I love the tune and words !

Podgie have written that the Songbird have been written by his Uncle Owen who passed away a few years ago . He wrote that song in april 1981 just a few weeks before Bobby died . He recorded it as he knew it would touch the hearts of a lot of people and should not be locked away . Thats my opinion too! Shebeen is one of the best rebel bands I´ve ever heared.
