@flyingscience (My apologies for not having a better level of understanding about this) Here is the information I can offer as a layman: It was found 1/6/2011 in an area with a lot of red clay gravel (the rock was reddish too). Some years ago, I had taken a similar fossil to a paleontologist at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK and he said that it was likely from the Mississippian period.

Have you or anyone you know of found a cast fossil of the flesh of a brachiopod? I could swear that the one I have shows the flesh texture (as it was) under the shell. I found it near the Grand River in Northeastern Oklahoma. I can send pictures if needed.

@SilentPartner79 The ordovician fossil brachiopods dont have internal fossilized features (that I've ever seen).I have seen and bought devonian brachiopods that have the coiled lophophore (their digestive tract stomach) . It's common in some places . What age is yours?

I couldnt make up my mind at first where to put the loose shells .They are in part 2 after all .
