The Roller Derby was an incredible sport that began back in 1935. My parents were there and skated in the very first race and became two of the most celebrated skaters. Here are a few pictures from my film in progress; The Roller Derby "Wooden Wheel Wonders".
my father never blamed him.....it was just a terrible incident.

The Nygras were an amazing couple, living well into their nineties. Thank you, Joel. My father created the game and he always loved the first players more than any of the others.

Wow! Awesome video! These skaters were so badass and I strive to be like them every time I lace up my quads and get onto the track. Thanks for sharing it!

I LOVE THIS FILM! It made me cry way before the end. America is sorely in need of the kind of spirit these pioneers of the sport of Roller Derby had. Modern day skaters rely on alias names and personas to dip their toes into Roller Derby...the people shown here skated it, breathed it, lived it in a way most skaters now days can't imagine. Thanks for taking the time to preserve these memories for us all.

My father was "Dick Thomas" the driver of the bus that crashed in southern illinois. He past-away in 1993. It was the nightmares of his dreams. He was never the same again and had thought about that every day of his life.
