FAT32 cant use files bigger than 4Gb, thats why you cant move your big file to the drobo, also, this is a HUGE disadvantage when doing backups since alot of backup files is larger than 4Gb, you should have choosen to format in HFS, HFS does not have that limitation.

There's a program called MacDrive for windows that will detect and read/write hsf+ drives. That way you can still use it cross platform and avoid the FAT limitations JesperA86 pointed out.

@thatnikonguy Hi Matt. Thinking of getting a Drobo as well. Can you put a bit slow into numbers? Can you work off that device for Lightoom or Aperture?

Matt have you had any problems with your drobo? I am looking for a better storage device for my digital media (currently using a 1TB external drive) and I was not sure how reliable drobo is after reading some reviews from the internet.

@shropshire21 bit slow, but reliable. I had a drive or two fail inside- lucky I was using it.
