KENTA for the GHC Heavyweight strap?

I outline a bunch of reasons why KENTA (and by extension almost all juniors) should be kept away from the GHC Heavyweight belt... but certainly can be thrown into tag matches with and against heavies.

Id like to see KENTA get some sort of IWGP/GHC jr title run were he is billed as the greatest jr in the world. Just on another thought who would you like to see whether it be grapple or MMA fighter really be taken under Billy Robinson's wing and apply catch to there fighting style?

@KDaltonIrish There's also an olympian called Ben Askren who is a Bellator champion. He'd be a lot better if he ditched the vanilla BJJ in favour of CACC ;) He should contact billy and get learning!

@DanielTalksPuroresu Ben Askren trains at the lions den which means he very well could have some knowledge in CACC. There is also a cuban olympian Mijaín López who is a 120kg gold medalist in Greco-Roman and he is defecting to the America to start training in mma he would be someone i would like to see Billy train.

@KDaltonIrish I think given that Billy has always favoured smaller guys (to the point where he thinks a 170 pounder should be able to beat ANYBODY) having him school a goliath like Lopez is unlikely ;) At least not in that 'take under his wing' Sakuraba approach. P.S. With Mega Megu losing (to a bullshit decision wtf honestly...) i think it's time for Mr Barnett to focus on himself and get back to the upper echelons.

I think of it this way. Machida is a fantastic fighter, and an undeniable badass, but if he fought, say, Brock, he would be demolished. There are weight classes in sports and simulated sports for a reason.

@PuroresuSpirit Dragon Gate certainly buck the trend, and that's a really good point. But but but, their largest crowd to date is something like 8k no? That's absolutely diddly squat compared with NJPW in the 90s pulling huge Dome numbers and stuff. Devitt and KENTA are guys with decent fanbases, but the fanbases arent going to care about heavyweight title shots and theyre also not going to fill a 20k+ venue.

If there is a premier championship which KENTA deserves, it is definitely the Ring Of Honor World Championship. KENTA has wrestled for ROH more times than any other Japanese wrestler, and everytime he enters the ring he puts on a great match.

@KDaltonIrish just to follow up on this, i'd be really interested to see Ishi Satoshi go over and train with Billy. I was thinking the other day about how CACC would blend with Judo. Given how easy it seems for Ishi to get people down, if he could keep them there and submit them he'd be a real threat in a few years. It would also answer the question about whether catch only works as an extension for outstanding wrestler, or whether guys from other backgrounds can make use of it too.
