I use two external drives, a USB for TimeMachine and a Firewire for making a bootable back-up with SuperDuper. I've always been good about backing-up my documents, photos, etc. but I had a disk fail once and lost all my applications. Never going to let that happen again, it's a bigger pain than I anticipated. Great video adriarichards!

Though TimeMachine isn'y bootable, you can easily put your whole system back on a new drive with this program in OS X, when your current disk would crash.
On the other hand, when you need really (and then I mean REALL :P ) need your computer and cannot wait until you have a new disk (because of work, for instance) this is a really useful program!
