For two weeks between 27 March and 9 April 2009, the British Council brought more than sixty outstanding designers, planners, artists, architects and engineers from Australia, China, India, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, and Cardiff to Wales to work on a live design brief in an intensive two-week studio in Cardiff.
The studio centred upon an urban design brief about Cardiff City Centre and its neighbourhoods, developing solutions specific to the city but of international relevance. In devising their final strategies and solutions students were asked, through collaborative group working or individually, to rethink various aspects of Cardiff in relation to the date 2020.
It was a partnership between the British Council and Professor Richard Goodwins Porosity Studio (based at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW), the Cardiff University and the University of Glamorgan.
