scottish football

The world of Scottish football is as macho a world as you're ever likely to be in. Hotscot FC are the only gay football team in the country. The jokes come thick and fast, they 'play for the other side,' they 'have trouble sharing balls,' but the slurs come also. They've been called names and been accused of further excluding gay people from the footballing community.

It's early day for the team but they have dreams of appearing in the Gay World Cup in 2008 and must try to move up to an 11 a side team.

HotScots, the first Scottish LGBT football team was founded in February 2007 with the aim of organising football games and provide a social outlet for LGBT people who wish to watch and participate in football with other like-minded people.

There is a well-established Gay League in England but there has not yet been a move to establish something similar in Scotland.

It's funny how they decided to call themselves HotScots FC, when none of their players who were interviewed were Scottish. I don't have a problem with them not being Scottish, but why call your team HotScots, when most of them aren't Scots at all.
