The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has been the Phoenix for its entire athletic existence. It does create referential problems (are "we" the Phoenix? Phoenices?), but the idea is that there can be only one. It's both unity and singularity. I suppose W & M could adopt the Phoenix as a mascot, but first it would be necessary to burn down UWGB.
