I also think long asphalt run-offs wouldn't help in this instance with the stuck throttle (also a symptom of the front end damage I would imagine, possibly a piece of structural material caught in the pedal end of the cable, these cars would certainly have a cable throttle).

Stuck Throttle?

@reptongeek Yes indeed, a stuck throttle - you can see the wheels spinning long after the impact - until the marshall pulls the engine kill switch by the roll hoop. I feel this is one of the worst kinds of accident for a driver to experience, knowing there is little he can do to stop the car (it has been mentioned before that it would be possible to switch off but the natural reaction is to try and brake even though the car has no front wheels) - Dino had many seconds to envisage the impact.

@KeeperOfTheKitten I'm not surprised he had a stuck throttle, he went through the guardrail as if it wasn't there, much like Allan McNish in Japanese Qualfying in 2002
