The 22-year-old from Rosemère, Que., became the first Canadian to win an Olympic gold medal at home. No Canadians won gold at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, and the country was shut out again at the 1988 Winter Games in Calgary.

  • Im agree, i'm from Quebec and i dont support the whole being a different country crap. The people from Quebec are more worried to be different than supporting Canada with our differences. A country is made from many types of peoples and also with traditions that put together to be original and rich as a culture. Alexandre Bilodeau is an example of union and what a really French Canadian should be. I'm from Quebec, i love Quebec but I'm part of Canada, and i'm damn proud to be a Canadian.

  • Such a wonderful person!! Veeeery humble and has such a positive outlook to the sports! You make us proud, Alex <3

  • Haha when he did this, he must have been really tired... But he still pulled off which is great, if he was me I would be sleeping on the table by now. Oh we will always love you. There's one thing that I don't understand is the big deal about French and English??? Come on guys, stop with that crap, I know that back in the days french and English have fights 24/7 but this is the 21th century. We are just simply Canadians.

Btw, I'm not saying any people here, I'm just saying in general.

  • he got lucky you have to say it took one good run to beat dale begg smith

  • I totally agree with your post!! I'm from Quebec as well and I'm proud to be as I'm equally proud to be Canadian.
