Recorded at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California in 1982, this concert was the last date on "Farewell Tour". It was an emotional night and would be the last gig for 5 years. The set contained all their best loved hits and they were joined by founder member Tom Johnston for the last two tracks, with former members John Hartman (also from the original line-up), Tiran Porter and Michael Hossack coming on stage for the celebratory finale of "Listen To The Music". The band are in fantastic form and rise to the occasion magnificently, they can rarely have delivered a better performance throughout their distinguished career. An album called "Farewell Tour" was released by Warners in 1983 but this featured tracks recorded at several different concerts across the tour. This is the first time the audio of their actual final concert has been available.

On CD format, four additional tracks from the concert have also been reinstated as bonus tracks. On the DVD format, the Bonus Features offer five tracks from the concert that were cut from the original 1982 film: "Little Darling (I Need You)", "One Step Closer", "Dependin' On You", "Real Love" and "No Stoppin' Us Now" plus interviews with the band members and manager.

  • @MrGamerCritic

    No way man!

  • I love thgis version. so Much funkier and grooves more. the original version is so hokey!

  • @codsack THAT BAND WOULDA BEEN A 3 ALBUM ROCK STYARS WITHOUT MIKE. CASE CLOSED. THEY ALWAYS PLAYED SOUL AND THATS THEIR ROOTS. FYI. SOUL/ROCK. SOUL/BLUES SOUL/COUNTRY.

  • @SIXSTRING63 ACTUALLY IT WAS pAT BUT TO BEHONEST THEY ALWAYS WANTED THE SONG TO BE FUNKIER, SO THEY FINALLY GOT A CHANCE TO CHANGE THE FEEL. TOMMY WAS THERE AT THIS GUIG IN THE WINGS FYI

  • @miamidan51 tHEY SWEPT THE GRAMMY'S WITH RECORD OF THE YEAR WITH mICHAEL mCdONALD WHO "RUINED THE BAND". NOT!

  • @longhairedpig IDIOT mIKE DIDN'T GET FIRED. THE BAND HAD AN AGREEMENT TO DISBAND AFTER 82. tOM LEFT THE BAND ORIGINALLY. mIKE STILL COMES BACK ON SEVERAL TOURS AFTER THE BAND SORTA REUNITED. NOW YOU KNOW THE TRUTH JUST JUST YOUR MOUTH AND LEAVE THE COMMENTS TO THE GROWNUPS AND THOSE IN THGE KNOW. BY tHAT WAY THAT CLOWN IS THE GREA, LATE CORNELIUS BUMPUS WHO ALSO PLAYED WITH STEELY DAN BEFORE HIS UNTIMELY DEATH AND HE WAS MY CLOSEST FRIEND.. CLOWN!

  • @longhairedpig tHE DOOBIES ARE COLLECTIVE A GREAT MUSICIANS. mICHAEL IS THE REAL STAR VOICE OF THE GROUP AND AT THE SAME TIME THE MOST LAID BACK. THEY TOOK THIS SONG AND FUNKED IT UP A LITTLE. ITS ACTUALLY A BTTER GROOVE THAN THE ORIGINAL. ITS JUST THE lIOVE VERSION. mICHAEL'S VOICE IS A CLASSIC ROCK VOICE. AT LEAST FROM THE GENERATION I COME FROM. JOE COCKER ND RAY CHARLES AND EVERYBODY ELSE THAT RAY INFLUENCED INCLUDING JOHN LENNON ARE ROCK SINGERS AS WELL

  • @NijhtOwl I dont care what method he left or that he wrote a lot of the songs, his voice is adult contemporary & the Doobies are rock & always have been. McDonald's voice doesnt belong with the Doobies. Tom & Pat are the true voices of the Doobies all the way back when they first started. Tom's voice is the best...I love his voice!!!

  • There is nothing wrong with this live version, it is just a different twist on a worn out song. If you have ever had to stand there night after night and play the same song to please others instead of your self, you would understand that a fresh interpretation on a old song breathes new life in to it.
