This has been my favorite dvd since I was eight years old ^-^ I just love, and the meaning of the songs are wonderful!
-
One of the best things with this dvd is that it documented three very beautiful and talanted back-up singers that had been with Miriam for a couple of years when this tour happened.

Africa for Africa I remember watching this Live in Zambia. Love Paul Simon and his love for our people. My love for Mr. Mandela goes without say, and Winnie(short comings and all) still gets my respect

@yosoyjosue Yeah I understood this after I made that comment. Strange that I have been under the impression it was in South Africa all these years. I love that concert. I guess I might have been too young too understand then and afterwards not thought about if it was just an assumption or a fact that it was in SA. Thinking about it it makes no sense at all that I believed that it could really have taken place in SA.

@katnils It is definitely in Zimbabwe because Masekela & Makeba were exiled. Harare, Zimbabwe was chosen as the closest possible venue to South Africa.

Yes: "Much of the album was recorded in South Africa, and it features many South African musicians..." However, "Simon toured the album extensively, featuring many of the artists from the album in addition to exiled South Africans Hugh Masekela and Miriam Makeba. Two concerts in Harare, Zimbabwe, were filmed in 1987 for release as "The African Concert". The audience was a multi-racial mix with many travelling from South Africa." Hugh and Miriam would not have been able to enter South Africa.
