Volkswagen has announced plans to install the safety feature, Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP), as a standard trait in all of its 2009 models -- ahead of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) 2012 deadline. Volkswagen reports it is the first non-luxury manufacturer to include a standard electronic stabilization system on all of its vehicles. The NHTSA predicts that if every vehicle was equipped with ESP, an estimated 10,000 lives could be saved each year.

  • Who cares, it saves lives and money

  • So do I when I'm trying to show off in a rwd car on a track or something but when you have to swerve hard to avoid that child running out in the street you'll be glad you've got ESP to help keep the car in check.

  • i just think they use the ESP to cover up poorly set up chassis...

  • Thats because the jetta is a stupid car:D Try the same tests with a megane or focus. You'll be amazed what they can do when the ESP is off...

  • I also felt that when it intervened that it came in too abruptly and freaks you out. Me likes the back end to go out anyways

  • @hishonline Your a dreamer like every young dude don't deny it its good

  • gross exaggeration of such a simple (altho complex) feature.

Crap video, please stay off the roads and stop driving. A suggestion for next time, use a snow/frosted/wet car park, and repeat the same process IDENTICALLY, not normal the first, then taking the p !$ next time..

  • @ebebimik Not true. I used to have a VW Jetta just like that and believe me it was completely off when I hit that button. You know how I can tell? I was being an idiot in a parking lot and E-brake turning. With the ESP on it would not let the rear-end slide out at all. With it off the car completely spun around. You can also feel it intervening so it would be obvious if it kicked in at all. I just drove with it off for the most part. I don't like computers keeping me on the road I can handle it.

  • @harwell299 Yes, but it also alowes Young and inexperienced drives to push the car beyond their limits, because they know the car and its electronins just MIGHT save them. That means they WILL go faster in turns because ther "feel" save. If the car did not have this they would have to go slower. otherwise they would be in the ditch - and get a well deserved beating at home for wrecking the family car.

  • this a fuckin fake

there is not the sam drivin in the diferent cases

  • WTF was 1:08 ?

If you drive like that all the time, it might be best to keep you ESP on ALL the time

  • @hishonline Too bad most drivers don't have that kind of driving talents.
