A site-specific dance gala on modern Chinese lifestyles was kicked off at Shanghai Times Square on June, 19. In this kind of dancing style, audiences are not only observers, but also participants. Dancers are moving around the crowds inside the shopping mall, which establishes a closer relationship with the visitors.
The subject of this dance gala is called DELT, namely dressing, eating, living and traveling which are the four essential elements in everyday life. It was performed by top dancers from Hong Kong City Contemporary Dance Company and Beijing Dance/LDTX. The founder and present artist director Willy Tsao noted that being free is the key to the site-specific dancing style.
The audience at Shanghai Times Square was amazed by this novel form of performance. It might be something they have never experienced before. We were on the site, enjoying every minute of it, what's more, we had a short interview with Willy Tsao. Please click the video for more information.
