In this next video we discuss protecting the Virtual Machines with the free tools that are part of the solution in the Dell EqualLogic PS Series SANs. We have a tool called Auto Snapshot Manager / VMware Edition which coordinates smart copy snapshots between Virtual Center and the SAN. It places the VMs into snapshot mode, then takes a snapshot of the datastore and then releases the snapshot. This allows for recovery options from entire datastores, individual machines, and even file leve restores from snapshots. Again, these tools and techniques are not meant to get rid of your current backup schedule, but instead to give you additional layers of protection in your environment.
