A home people still live in near the mine fire. They are less then 100 feet from where the mine fire effects the surface. The smell of sulfur wasn't too strong where we were, but it was windy at the time this was filmed.

EDIT: These homes are now gone too. Demolished like the rest.

  • Wikipedia says this house is now demolished. And it said the buttresses were from other buildings that used to be there?

  • @bexcpfc Yes, they are gone now. The buttresses were put there after the adjacent homes were torn down. They were needed to support the remaining home.

  • if theres 10 ppl in this town where do they shop

  • @cherd1971

There are other populated towns close by, only a few miles away.

  • @StephenMc2000 its in my home state of pa

  • @ancilodon I have heard of it, but this is the first time I did any research on it. Very spooky and tragic that someone burning trash caused all these people to lose their homes and town.

  • That fire will burn untill the end of time .

  • Creepy. I never heard of this place till now.

  • where is centralia

  • I live right next to Centralia. I know people who actually sitll live there, the houses aren't torn down, there are houses still by the mine fire. People choose not to leave, and can no longer get compensated. They're older citizens and soon there won't be anyone there. There's a kid in my school who is a senior, he'll be the last one to graduate from the borough of centralia.

  • @johndelaghetto1 and if you put an unlit match to the ground it lights

  • I'LL GO TO CENTRAILIA SOME TIME SOON!

  • its a few hours outside of philly. its really sad. I'm surprised more town in pa aren't like this considering all the mining
