  • My westie Mac was diagnosed today with early signs of lung disease, I dread the days when it gets worse for him :(

  • @KatWissinger Im truly sorry to hear, we were diagnosed really late and so lost out on a lot of treatment which could have given him far longer. There are some great communities/forums out there to help Westy owners such as mostly westies dot com.

  • Further to my last posting, I'm saddened to say my little Casper had to be put down yesterday. Heartbroken. RIP my little friend xxx

  • All I can say is im truly really sorry. I wish all the best for your family from Litsa and I (Ian)

I'm so so sorry to hear about your loss, the only way i can try and help you here is to say it does get easier, and time is a good healer. But even so, its been almost 3 full months now since we lost scamps, and we had a few tears last night from my fiance as something happened that reminded us of him.

I wish you all the best

    Ian

    PS

  • i have a 3 year old westie that had breathing issues around 5 months old. After test after test no one could figure it out. We took him to VT where he was diagnosed with a ventricular septal defect. Which means his heart has a hole in one of the chambers and his lungs doesnt get the oxygen he needs. I will do whatever possible to give him the best possible life while he is with me. The vet said he was born with this defect. Does anyone else have a westie with this issue?

  • I am so so sorry for your loss. Edison, my 14 month Westie has been having issues with rapid breathing while he is at rest. I just noticed this issue about 3 weeks ago and had to take him in to the vet to get x-rays this morning. The vet told me he has an enlarged heart and his lungs don't seem to appear normal. He is having an echocardiogram performed today and I am dreading hearing he has this disease :( He is still a baby!

  • poor fella, i have a 13 yr old westie and he is slow at walking

  • @da8iwr Thanks very much Litsa and Ian. Still finding it hard to cope with, miss him so much it hurts, still feel very guilty, though the night before he was suffering awfully with his breathing. The house feels so empty. My thoughts for those going through anything similar. Thanks again, Colin.
