I found this little fanged creature on a mortar mixer in September, 2008. He was crawling around, looking for food. He jumped on my lens a couple of times. Jumping Spiders are very curious creatures.

I credit these spiders for curing me of arachnophobia, although they themselves never scared me in the first place. Back in my home state of Illinois (I am in NC now) we had spiders like these, though a little bit smaller. When I was a kid, a few even jumped on me and not once did I ever get bit. You can feel the strength in their legs when they walk on you, they are strong as hell for their size. See how he looks you right in the face? They can see you very well, and are highly intelligent.
They are the smartest spiders you can get. They also have the best eyesight for spiders. Just thank our lucky stars they're not the size of a dog. You won't find 'em so cute then.
He/She's gorgeous! Yes from what I've found out, such curiosity is pretty unique - for arachnids anyway. A lot of em literally come and check you out! I know spiders aren't for everybody but I've never heard of any spiders carrying diseases, compared to the flies and mosquito population they help control. They're also very clean little animals.
