Here is a clip of a Class 40 which is D213 filmed at Barrow Hill on the 23/05/2008 idling at the "Rail Power 2008" weekend which was held at Barrow Hill that is located near Chesterfield in the Midlands. Very impressive amount of locomotives there and I am a big fan of the Class 40's and the Peaks!

Aye these are among my favourites as I used to ride on these machines a lot back in the 80's when I was a kid mate.

what a sweet sound love the whistle off the turbos i used to lie awake in bed as a kid listening to them waiting for a green light on the kidsgrove to crewe branch line and you knew when they got it all hell would be unleashed and as a young man had the horrible task of taking an o/a flame cutter to some at crewe loco works so sad !!!!

@kevleisa: The Class 40 is a legend and thankfully there is about 5-6 in preservation. Shame they all went in favour of DMU's but I do like the Class 150's. But nothing beats a good old Class 40 loco hauled train which used to be a regular thing at Nene Valley Railway. Though since Gerald Bowden passed away in February this year, D306 is now stored at Washwood Heath.

It certainly is mate.

Of course, with that class 20 in the background, it's hard to distinguish the 40 properly...

@smiffy1071: The Class 20 shown wasn't running mate (or atleast it wasn't when I was filming this beast).
