Kitesurfing session out under the Golden Gate Bridge on Sept 19th 2009
there was a very strong 4.7 knot ebb going out to sea.
The smoke is from a flare dropped on the water after a windsurfer had been reported missing and we saw his gear and body being swept out to see. The coast guard recovered the mans body 2.5 miles out to sea after several hours of searching.
Very sad day and my heart goes out to the family.

nice video. hate to see those flares on the water. they are also used when someone jumps from the bridge. it takes some of the fun out of sailing on the bay near the GGB when someone has just jumped and the coasties are searching for the body and asking others to keep a look out as well.

it was a windsurfer in his 60s and we are not sure what happened but it may have been medical or something.
