Hi folks,

this is a video showing how to use a 4g3's walkera tail esc to convert your mcpX main to brushless. On heli freak forums, this is called the Easiest BL conversion.. because the WK tail esc has a built-in brushed-to-brushless converter in it, you do not need to use 'theSteve' converter with the XP-7A esc.

You could see the results of me hooking up the WK-tail-esc's 'signal-collector' wire to the tapping point which is on the resistor just below the main FET on the mcpX board (the tapping point used for 'theSteve' conversion),

versus

tapping signal from the top pin of the main FET on the mcpX board.

  • This is for a brushless main motor conversion. The white tail prop shows the throttle response you would expect from the conversion...it is a 2g outrunner but the c05 outrunner commonly used to replace the mcpx stock main motor, would behave the same way.

  • Is this for a BL tail or main BL conversion of MCPX?
