This is the scariest bridge that I've ever been on. Don't look to the side as your driving because you'll realize that you are literally feet from a long plunge to your death.

This is the newer span, opened in 1972. The last time I was crossed it, in May 1989, the old span was closed and this span carried traffic in both directions.

It's not bad actually the view is really great. Besides the only other way to get to the same place is a 150 mile trip around the upper Chesapeake Bay.

how long is that bridge...... 15 miles?

This one is a little over 4 miles. The bridge-tunnel at the mouth of the bay is something like 22 miles.
