Caroline's Song

This song was written by Caroline's daddy (Sean) after she asked him one evening why she couldn't walk like him, or her mom or brother. After having a friend (Doug Peak) put Sean's words to music, this is how it turned out. Thanks to Karen McGough and Glenn Williams for singing it. Here is "Caroline's Song" performed at First United Methodist Church Mansfield on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009.

My precious little 4 year old girl, with braces on her feet
Early one evening from the floor, looked up at me.
"Daddy, oh Daddy, can't stand up like you, or walk like my baby brother
Can you help me to?"

That question hangs heavy on my mind
the answer is so hard to find.
"Baby you know I would if there were anyway I could.
Sometimes it's hard to understand
the wisdom in God's perfect plan.
Come and take my hand, I'm here for you."

As I reflect back on that night
One thing is clear to me
My baby girl and I are much the same
I fall in my Father's eyes each day
to walk in His way can be so hard
Each night I'm on my skinned knees and I pray...

I know there will come a time
when I get to hear her say
the same words I'll say to my father....one day....one day....
