SXU kicks off 2011-12 academic year with annual New Student Induction

Saint Xavier University welcomed first-year, transfer and graduate students into the SXU community at the annual New Student Induction ceremony on Aug. 19 at the Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St.

The procession traveled across campus and passed under the 49th Street Gateway Arch, a replica of the one that welcomed people to the University's historic early 20th century campus at 49th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue. The induction featured an address from President Christine M. Wiseman, J.D., and other faculty and staff members. Students received University Seal medallions and University prayer books, and were invited to a post-ceremony reception.
