This was a time when every op song was not dance or hip hop. When music actually consisted of people playing instruments and lyrics were introspective.

Thanks 3D. Way back Amazon recommended The Innocence Mission since I liked The Sundays.
Love your list, too, thx. AFF - I have One Cell in the Sea at home and at work. IM - The Way I Am led me to BE OK. I will check out MH, IH, & SB. My Pantheon includes Mazzy Star, Maria Taylor, Lissie, The Weepies, and I'm looking FWD to Camera Obscura in early June. Canadian content: Feist, Basia Bulat, The Organ, Stars.
Last night I discovered Au Revoir Simone and last week Data Romance. Cheers! Mark

LWD...LOL. Agree with your favorites...like them all. Although my list of favorites is long and goes waaaaay back, right now I listen mostly to "indie" ladies, like Missy Higgins, A Fine Frenzy, Imogen Heap, Ingrid Michaelson, Sara Bareilles, etc....a long list. I like having them make love to my ears. Unlike some posters, I think there's good music in any decade. It's just harder with corporate radio. I find artists on last.fm and see their videos on YouTube...best of both worlds.

Yo, LENGTHWIDTHDEPTHartist247, good call. In the comments below I said this is my # 1 pop song of all time and my second favorite band ever.
Well, Katrina and the Waves is #1.
What a voice, that Harriet Wheeler - and great songs to sing.
LOVE Bat for Lashes, too - and you're welcome for Joni Mitchell, eh. MH

Prefer the remix by Tin Tin Out featuring Shelley Nelson. I guess it's because I heard that version first. Great song nonetheless
