The main problem is that McLaren never played David Beckham. When Becks was captain, we only lost 4 games out of 64. That says it all.

THE SIMPLE FACTS: England were at home and playing against a team that had already qualified. They only needed a draw to get to Euro 2008 but as usual when it really matters in the pressure games England fail to do it. For example, Germany have reached 11 major finals and Italy have reached 8 but England have just reached the one final in 1966!! That says it all doesn't it? How can you even start to argue against that statistic?

Scotland got 24 points in a group that contained Italy, France & Ukraine!
England got 23 points in a group where they drew with Macedonia and Israel AND lost home and away to Croatia!
