@JakeJonRoberts Yeah...that's the joke. Go look for the whole clip, the ottoman empire is a bunch of guys sitting on chairs with the furniture piece called an ottoman. So chill out champ

I actually live in Hastings..
-
@BloodyBanastre I must inform you...the soldiers in this scene who are trying to "get" Hastings are Normans led by William I. They would be speaking French, not English.
This video reminds me of Monty Python's "reenactment" sketches.

The Writers from Family Guy are dumbasses, the Battle of Hastings was extremely important that made William of Normandy king of England, and having an important foreshadowing to the Hundred Years War
-
@BloodyBanastre The guys we see would have spoke old french actually :) And the others would have spoken the Saxon tongue which became English after it mixed with French and a tiny bit of German and Danish and practically every other Germanic language. And yes it is family guy:)

@Andreus All of the accents you find in America are actually, for the most part, slightly evolved old English accents that are now extinct in England. The two American accents that are closest to the older English ones are the eastern shore Maryland accent and the Maine accent. Besides, during the battle at Hastings they would have been speaking such an old dialect of English it would have sounded more like a low German to someone today. And also...its family guy...who cares, lol.
