There is no shortage of people willing to snipe at this man and make ad hominem attacks, yet he offers a very cogent argument and illustrates the points he's trying to make by citing history, so I'd be more inclined to lend him credence than I would his detractors. Also, I've heard people all my life tell me that "such and such can't happen the the US", and they were dead wrong. Hubris will not protect us from ourselves.
