Dr. Migdad &Mrs. Jancy. M was keen in entering farming from the very beginning of their married life. But as the financial buildup was a must for any business they had find other job at the first place
In the year 2005 Animal husbandry department had started conducting awareness camp in which they were concentrating more on such small scale faming . Rabbit farming was one of the focal point. With the help of the veterinarians Mr. Migdad & Mrs Jancy charted out production of rabbits. This was slow to capture the ideas of the common people but with the entrepreneur nature they came up with an innovative scheme of buy back of the kit with a reasonable price tag. This kind of buy back even though was good plan for the buyers but then a regular market for this was to be found. Mr.Migdad campaigned hard to educate the people about rabbit meat the properties of the meat being low in cholesterol but thing were not that easy. That was where Mrs. Jancy migdad came for the rescue. As the word better half sounds she prepared delicious dishes out of rabbit meat which was severed to the buyers at the first place when they come for purchase of rabbits. This helped the buyer to built confidence to market the rabbits in their area as Ashiyana did. They got the knowledge that there are out put for this product that they are producing. Mrs Jancy educated the people about rabbit meat in the farm and the dishes that can be made out of this meat.
Mr. Migdad started supplying the meat to different areas around Tirur and Kozhikode. He took all the strain to advertise more about the specialties of the meat as well as the farm. Mrs. Jancy took up charge of taking care of the farm, managed the labour, feeding, post kindling care and kindling care of the rabbits along with the daily house hold duties. As the people came to know about this venture slowly but surely there was progress in the number of people turning up to buy rabbit meat. It came to around 150 Kg a day in the month of Ramazan. This will be the time when the entire Ashiyana family that includes the entire farming community that purchased rabbits from this farm to reap profit for the year long hard work. This brought more youngsters to think of farming in Animal Husbandry sector seriously. The outcome was amazing, more than 16,000 rabbits were supplied in 5 year of the farms history and still many to be supplied and more in demand, this all happened only because of sheer hard work put in by Mr. Migdad & Mrs. Jancy Migdad and their team of farmers they created.
