Thanksgiving on Alcatraz 2006

The indigenous people of America celebrate the Unthanksgiving day celebration every year since 1969 on Alcatraz Island in the San Francisco Bay. Nine year old filmmaker Gabriel Gartland visited the event this year.

it is a glimps of the beauty that takes place. yet they ask that people do not take photos or video as it is church and just as you would not want someone to video you child's confirmation, baptism and so on and post it up on the internet. while it is touching to share what we have been touched with seems the least we as guest can do is honor this simple request, and then the advert at the end? this is not a blow-up but a reminder of what we were all asked.. do right by our hosts.
