This week on CAEPLA CONNECTIONS Landowner Talk Radio, Keith Wilson, Kevin Avram, and Sheldon Fulton discuss Alberta's Bill 50. Bill 50 is a type of companion bill to Bills 19, 24, and 36, which are laws recently passed in the province that one way or another erode property rights or cancel processes that are open, transparent, and therefore subject to public scrutiny and review. Bill 50 moves these transparent processes into the backroom of cabinet.

In the case of Bill 50, this new law gives cabinet the power to ignore the utilities commission while shunning any kind of needs assessment process, before it commits the province to spend billions on high capacity power lines that major industrial power consumers say are not needed. So much so, that they are pleading with the government to not embark upon this massive multi-billion dollar overbuild that will triple power rates and drive investment out of the province.
