Hardwood flooring can enhance the look of a room and it's available in many different styles to fit your needs. Before you begin to install the floor, you will need to prep the subfloor. To watch a video on how to prep a subfloor visit http://www.Lowes.com/Videos. To install the floor you will need locking hardwood planks, transitions and moldings, a moisture barrier, circular saw, spacers, tape measure, wood glue and a utility knife.

To begin, move the flooring into the room it is being installed in. This will allow the wood to acclimate to the rooms temperature and humidity. Begin by laying the underlayment on the floor. Next, start to lay the hardwood. Use a spacer between the wall and the first piece of wood to form an expansion gap. Lock the planks together tongue to groove. Stagger the planks. If planks need to be cut, measure the distance needed and then cut to size with the plank face down and using wood cutting blades. Install moldings and transitions. Remember to nail the footings and molding to the walls and not the floor.

Now that you are done you will see that locking hardwood floors are an easy clean way to get the look of a hardwood floor. For more videos visit http://www.Lowes.com/Videos.

nice video, I have a sunken family room which has stairs to the kitchen and also the hallway. I am not sure which way to go with the steps. I can use ready made steps or use the laminate floor plus stair nose, I have not much experience so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We suggest you use the pre-made stair treads. They are one piece with less chance of separating over time. You can stain them to match your flooring.

I'm not here to give out business advice, but if he once had a successful business, then something like DIYers killed it, the business clearly did not adapt.

Also, I do have family members who have started and had failing businesses, but now have very successful small businesses because they adapted. Regardless, if you're a small business owner, you should know that if your niche begins to fall away, you have to adapt in order to survive.

Can't blame Lowes' videos for that.
