This a response to Hikosaemon's comment on ChemistinJapan's video (see title above). I think I really wanted to say two things in this vid.
1) It's easy to classify them as they are very homogenous. They share a set of islands, a language, and most physical traits. I think it's safe to say that every society has certain likes and dislikes. I think that most Americans do like hamburgers. The statement, "Americans like hamburgers," then is accurate. Of course, there are always exceptions but I think it's a reliable assumption. I've noticed that many Japanese guys like pink. Is it wrong then for me to say, "Japanese guys like pink?"
It might be a simplification but it's still based on observation.
I don't know. Let me know what you think.

  • Wait, you're complaining that because you are ethnically white, they won't ever REALLY consider you Japanese? So if a Japanese couple had a baby in Ireland, do you think they would accept that kid in that country as Irish? Don't be ridiculous.

  • KENYA!

  • The point about ethnic identity is not unique to Japan. In Australia or America with colonial pasts and short histories as independant countries ofcourse being born there is enough to attain an american or australian identity. For traditional societies its very different. If your parents are Uzbek and you were born in Russia, for example, people will consider you Uzbek, and you will probably want to consider yourself Uzbek. It's a part of your linguistic, cultural and ethnic identity.

  • THEY ARE THE JAPANESE...GREAT LINE~!

  • hey has any 1 told you.. you look like jack black lol.

  • I'm enjoying everyone's take on everything! You speak words of wisdom, hehe.

I think Intlace should come back due to the buzz his video has created.

  • 100% agrrement on this. Japan is unique. Other countries have racial diversity. Japan does not. It is simple. It is fact.
