they've already proven on mythbusters that you cant be buried alive and survive. they used a steel coffin and it crushed under the weight of the dirt. he has a wood and glass one. they also proved in a later episode you cant dig yourself out.

@cuteapril1 you're overthinking it... what does in fact happen he does actually climb through the dirt there is an amount of oxygen in the coffin and when he kisses his wife she exchanges the key to him through the mouth he uses that key to get out of the handcuffs and digs his way out of the dirt. at least that's how it's been done before
