  • Excuse me mr. chemguy but is it still in equilibrium if it is supersaturated?

  • @gummyslinger Nope. No crystals dissolving and reforming, no eqm regarding solute and solution.

  • ok, so when you dump the salt into the water, and have excess salt that precipitates, the solution would then be "more than saturated", right? so is that what create an equilibrium situation? because if it is just "saturated", all the solute is dissolved in the solvent and there are no crystals on the bottom. is there a difference between supersaturated and "more than saturated"? because when a solution is supersaturated it is not at equilibrium. the rate of crystallization is very low...

  • @harmeetsohal Not more than saturated. Just saturated. Crystals on the bottom will then dissolve at the same rate as recrystallizing, so that's eqm. No crystals on the bottom, but saturated, means no eqm. Rate of recry=rate of dissolving...that's eqm.

  • what does he say starting from 4:07-4 :15 " no more solute is... " ??? why cant we have a equlibruim in an unsaturated liquid?

  • @win2tgirl No crystals on the bottom!
