@johnnyrckt Either that was a straight forward question or damn funny one at that! No sir, whenever I'm in the cuts I always have 44 special reasons why I should be left alone.

Many thanks... yep, a family reunion of sorts centered around gold prospecting...could not have been better........best of BOTH worlds! Planning 2012 to be even bigger, better and invite more family to come along. :) Randy C-17A

1MrSouthpaw,
No problem...saw one small water snake about 16 inches long, other than that, no wildlife problems.
Planning on another trip out this late September.

@C0017A Glad you and yours had a good trip on the south yuba. Its a beautiful river. I've been through Washington,therefore I thought making a reference to "Deliverance" was perfectly appropriate.BTW,I hear one can find decent pickers sniping perpendicular cracks along the banks.I found a long handle sprinkler valve tool, fashioned for sniping, works pretty well.The 2 prong fork on the end can be made into a sharp scraper and a flat scooper.Goldhidesinplainsight.

@1MrSouthpaw ,
I am sure pickers can be found in the cracks/crevices.......problem is finding a spot to prospect. Almost every inch is private property or claimed. Only the Golden Quartz picnic area 3 miles up river from the town is public, that I could find... Good luck!

Guys,
Back to prospecting plz...
Bears, fish and everything else ends up leaving something in the water.....glad nature has a way or breaking down, cleaning and resturing it all over time.
Thanks,
